Mujer

For Women:

There’s a whole wide world out there filled with people telling you, telling me, telling us who to be.

To be woman looks different for all of us. We are as alike as we are unique. There is no one-size fits all model – in all manners of the meaning. We come in all shapes, sizes, hues, colors, and vibrancies.

Yet, we all share commonalities. Whether it’s a sultry mystique, a soft nurturing touch, or a heart that welcomes and gathers in communion, we all are a part of a sacred sisterhood.

To understand who we are as a person, as a woman, we must feel it. What feels right within our bones? What makes our hearts steady with deep knowing?

Yet it is not so simple. If we’ve lived in a world that has forced us into believing we are a certain way, that we should be a certain way, then we lose touch with our core essence.

Our own life experience becomes anesthetized from the demands that stifle us. At first, it may feel strange or we may feel guilty to stop being that which others desire us to be but through practice or sheer valor, it feels euphoric.

To be the self as the soul intends for us to be, in a natural state is to purify ourselves from the inside out so that we can glide through the world effortlessly and with a magnetic vitality.

I’ve struggled with defining & embodying my own core feminine traits as I’ve felt equal parts shame for it and shame for not being “it”.

I’ve been underappreciated and flat-out unacknowledged for my womanness. Many have attempted to teach me it’s less-than, weak, and even inferior.

I’ve been criticized & told that I’m too masculine. I’ve been applauded for being masculine.

Instead of confusion, I laid the madness to rest and chose to discover what holds value for me.

In my own introspective & healing journey, I’ve gotten down on my hands and knees to carefully uncover the buried feminine archetypes that have existed since her creation and much before mine.

There are a thousand million pieces to uncover, maybe more, maybe less. They represent the entirety of the human experience, that which we’ve accumulated since the beginning of time. There is not necessarily a hierarchy or superiority of such, but rather an appropriate, right time right place that creates the right embodiment right expression that allows us to live, enjoy, and maybe even master this human experience.

When to be soft, when to push

When to be nice, when to bare one’s teeth

When to laze in the sun for hours on end, and when to rocket to the moon

To be the self and recover one’s core essence is a many-tiered, multi-faceted and ever-unwinding endeavor. To succeed in such a task means you recognize yourself as a mosaic with different parts for the viewer, for life, for you to focus on. One at a time, sometimes blending into the adjacent piece or pieces.

It has, by far, been the most empowering practices of innerwork I’ve ever done.

And now I know how to love her, be her, and let her shine

That is, if I choose to
