Flow Everlasting

Cataratas Nauyaca, Costa Rica

The water doesn’t stop flowing

It doesn’t stop clearing

It keeps going, unconcerned with its path or what’s in its way.

It twists and turns, drops, and sometimes double back, but

It keeps going

It keeps purifying

May we, too, be reminded of our own need to cleanse and clear ourselves

From the debris of unworldly beliefs we were convinced were true of the world and of ourselves, flushing them out so they can develop into something fresh and nourishing

From the muck of old, tired, worn & tattered stories that lay stagnant and rotting in the depths, shallows, and surfaces, so we no longer feel we need to be characters in them.

May we bear witness to its incessant flow that is able to smooth and soften the hardest of rocks and roughest of edges, understanding we no longer need to be so tough, should we so desire a change

May we receive its force that is life-giving

Letting pour unto us a vigor and freshness that leaves what it’s touched shining with brilliance

Like the water that flows into an infinite forever, may we, too

Keep revitalizing, replenishing, and keep cleansing until we are clear, pure, and sparkling with aliveness.

Many of us have seen the healing reel in which a clear glass is filled with dirt. A hand appears and pours fresh, clean water into the glass. Slowly, the water becomes less discolored. It starts to become clearer and clearer. This takes time. It takes persistence. We must remember this, and that the world around us will continue to pour in more dirt, smog…things that muddy our waters.

But that will never stop us from continuing to purify ourselves.

How do you purify yourself? How do you sanctify your soul?
