Where the High’s Know No Low’s

Laguna Turquesa, Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina

It’s hard to feel low in a place where stones rise so high.

Where the lakes and lagoons sparkle and hue in colors only seen in dreams

Where the voice of the forest can be heard if you listen past the world’s spinning

It’s where there is still ground yet to be touched by the foot of man

Where the bigness of the world makes one (and all problems) seem so blessedly small and insignificant…

in the absolute best of ways

It’s where the world synchronously ends and begins

Where the wind carries immeasurable possibilities in her breath

It’s where the ocean flows without hurry into an awaiting world through a slender, pensive channel, regally lined with mountains in a majestic passageway.

I go down to behold this sight every day. I go out into the mountains and get lost in their valleys so I can feel them holding me.

These are the grand things that keep me tethered to this earth

That give me hope when it’s long lost

These are the things we need more of

More communion with that which nourishes us

With that which is still pure and untainted

With the lavish effervescence of life that only nature, ours or that of this earth, in its true essence can give

and

To remember that this world, and our lives themselves, are an absolute miracle and a gift to be treasured, honored, and made into a tale we’re proud to have been the hero in.

I came to this place I speak of for this very reason. Ushuaia, the End of the World, is like no other. The southernmost city in the world not only has a poetic ring to it, but it also has one of the most unique, breathtaking views the world can offer.

I chose this place to call home for these reasons, and more. It has not been lost on me the healing powers of nature, in fact, it’s ever present, my saving grace, and sometimes the only thing that keeps me from losing all faith.

Where we call home is extremely important. It is our sacred space, that which nourishes us from the outside in and the inside out.

Where is your place that lifts you so high, it’s almost out of reach, if not entirely, for the low’s?
